Yvonne Khin, in her Collector's Dictionary of Quilt Names and Patterns (1980), presents this block without citation. It makes a beautiful whole-quilt pattern reminiscent of an Irish Chain. Click on the graphic to see a mockup.

In her Encyclopedia of Pieced Quilt Patterns, Barbara Brackman ascribes this block to a publication called "Golden Hands #10." We can't add much, if anything, to that.

The Ladies Art Company's block #262, published in 1897, creates an odd pattern as a whole-quilt group: There are no triangles on the block's sides and corners to create a continuous pattern.
